Bay “Creep” and Workspace.
The actual overall depth of a storage bay can often be overlooked during the planning stages with the result that the access aisle is less than anticipated. The bay creep should always be factored in particularly when working with custom lengths. Generally a gap of 50mm is required around the perimeter of the base for installation & servicing purposes which should also be factored into the overall dimensions. |

WEIGHT AND FLOOR LOADINGS:
Although most shelves have a weight load capacity in the vicinity of 100kg UDL (uniformly distributed load), it is highly unlikely that the material stored on each shelf will weigh anywhere near the shelf load capacity.
To determine the estimated loaded weight of a mobile storage unit it is necessary to firstly establish the self mass or un-laden weight of the unit, which is then added to the estimated weight of the contents. The latter being calculated using historical data when the intended application of the unit is known.
ESTIMATED FLOOR LOAD CALCULATIONS:
Estimate the total weight of the contents based on application and the number of storage levels. This figure is then added to the un-laden weight of the mobile storage unit to establish a total weight. The total weight in conjunction with the footprint of the unit can provide a guide to the likely floor loads expected.
